And
the winner is...
... (yawn) ...not a viewer of the telecast of the Academy Awards last night. It's not that Chris Rock bombed but he wasn't particularly funny either. I can't think of a single great line from him during the entire show. I'll go you one further, I can't think of a great line from anybody during the entire show. Other than Jamie Foxx's touching tribute to his grandmother, there wasn't a single memorable or witty line in any of the introductions or acceptances. Nor was there any controversy. The show was homogenized, pasteurized, and sanitized to death. And speaking of death, one of the elements of the show which is usually touching and nostalgic is the tribute to movie legends who have died since the last Academy Awards. Didn't the industry care to recognize the likes of Marlon Brando, Christopher Reeve, Janet Leigh, Fay Wray, and, yes, Ronald Reagan? |

There is an explanation for Prince Charles' choice of Camilla over Diana. Notwithstanding the knighthood of Elton John, England is not ready for a gay (poof) to assume the throne. So, all these years, Charles has been royally closeted and his true love, Cameron, has been forced to assume the role of Camilla in drag. Long live King Charles and his Queen?

Super Bowl regurgitated...
So much for all the pundits who questioned whether T.O. could/should play.
I like Andy Reid (he did start with the Packers) but, in the last six minutes of the game, what was he smoking? The Eagles needed two scores and the Eagles were playing the clock as if it was the 3rd quarter. In the end, the lack of time denied the Eagles an opportunity to play for a win or a tie.
Thumbs down: pre-game concert with Gretchen Wilson and Black-Eyed Peas, whoever they are.
Thumbs up: halftime show with Paul McCartney.
Syllogism-of-the-day: Creative people are overwhelmingly liberal. Liberals are in a deep funk. Therefore, there were no creative commercials on the Super Bowl.
But, you gotta be touched by the spot honoring our troops as they walked through the airport. Thanks, Anheuser-Busch.
NFL Draft: April 23-24, 2005. (The Packers have the 24th pick).
